PROBLEM

Researchers/students have very hard time finding the first article that provides them beneficial input. Wait, what is beneficial? It can be roughly categorized into 3 aspects:

1. Finding an article of previous research on the topic of interest.

2. Finding the latest and most trending article within your field.

3. Finding the benchmark of your research and the latest best value.

The definition of beneficial changes depending on the phase of a researcher. For example, students have hard time finding previous research to assist their thoughts. Where young researchers have hard time finding latest trends. R&D have hard time finding benchmark for their research. According to our investigation, researchers use in average 900 hours a year to find articles that suit their research. Ministry of Education in Japan says that a research takes 900 hours to complete. Simply, if we reduce the time of researching, people have enough time to complete another research.

Also, researchers have the issues where title and the abstract does not fully portray the content of article. According to our user interview, researchers found in average 10 ~ 40% of article useful from searching them. Highly inefficient. In terms of undergraduate students, there are many cases where they cannot find beneficial article during their senior year because of above mentioned reasons.

SOLUTION: Onikle

So why hasn’t this long-lasting problem solved? Well, every researcher is looking for something different. It is hard to solve a problem where there are different objectives: previous research, benchmark, and trends. Even though users are looking for certain article, journals/platforms do not provide specific sets of articles as it is not designed to incorporate user data. Onikle will be providing a platform where it utilizes user data to give recommendations to the researcher.

You might think there are recommending services in some other platforms. This is not entirely true. As of now, the platforms just provide recommendation based on content of the article, so you end up seeing similar articles, and not fulfil the pinpoint demands of a researcher.

If you are student, you are constantly looking for previous research. Onikle will recommend previous research so you don’t have to distinguish from other types of research. If you are a researcher, you are looking for the trending topics. Onikle will recommend you with trending research in your field. If you are in R&D sector, you are looking for benchmarks. Onikle will recommend you articles with benchmarks. Onikle will take out “noises” that disrupt a research, and make the process efficient
